The Lost Islands - Floater

Floaters were airborne snouters most common on the main islands. Having done away with nostrils completely, digestive methane was passed from the throat to the rhinarium, producing a nasal balloon that was lighter than air. Using this mechanism, Floaters navigated the skies in search of flying insects; steering and propulsion were provided by the ears. They were known to hide clinging to trees in overly blustery weather, preferring calm conditions.
