Skull Island Bestiary - Ultrapede

Ultrapede (Ultradesmus longus)

Length: 3.5 meters maximum.

Diet: Feeds on low growing vegetation and fungus, as well as rotting plant matter.

Many arthropods on Skull Island attain sizes unseen in other parts of the world; there are spiders bigger than people, crabs as large as gorillas, centipedes and millipedes of lengths more commonly seen in crocodiles. The most harmless of these maximum arthropods is the Ultrapede. This very long, fairly massive millipede spends its days crawling endlessly in search of soft vegetation and leaf-litter on which to feed. When confronted with a predator, it exudes a noxious chemical from between its segments, the smell and taste of which is unbearable to other animals.
