Description: This large predatory rat is dangerous. It hunts in packs, making coordinated attacks to weaken it's prey. Some come through an anomaly in a shopping center, initially endangering people, the ARC team use butcher-shop meats to distract the giant rats, and eventually lead them back through the anomaly.

Concept belongs to Dougal Dixon.

This is a concept that needs to be brought to the big screen on Primeval! They already have a future predatory bat, now they need a future predatory RAT.

well actually the most common mamman are bats and mice and mice are very different but let's just saythat th most common spieces of mammels are the rats family

A rat's a good basal form, with no real specialisations apart from the front teeth. Rats'd be really hard to drive to extinction, and you can evolve practically anything from them.

Someday I'll get round to writing that rat-derived sophont.

I thought Dixon's design of the rat's teeth a bit "fanciful". Especially when the Thylacoleo, an active predator, had teeth that was not so different from a rodent's.
