I agree with Connor, from all the mammals that have ever evolved, this is the last one remaining ? I would have been happy if it even was a cangaroo mouse, but hey evolution and Mother Nature are full of surprises.

Wonder what will take there place ?

If it makes Connor feel better, he could just throw some rats into it's anomaly and it won't be the last mammal :)

The coloring on the head is like a neon sign saying "Eat me" in big, bold letters.

Try getting away with eating any animal with neon colors, butterflies, catterpillars, poison dart frogs, and you'll see why its a bad idea. Bright colors are often a warning that an animal is poisonous or bad tasting. Its not how I intended this piece, but I'll use that as my excuse, the adults eat poisonous plants and become high in toxins.

Ok, so I'm really curious. Did this mammal survive so long cause it was a specialist, or because it was a generalist? Even though this animal might look pathetic, if it wasnt at least somewhat succesful it never would have survived so long.

What do you think will be the last animal on Earth?

Probably some insect I would guess. Last mammal would have to be a rodent of some sort. Last bird probably pigeon or gull, or crow. Last reptile would most probably be some kind of lizard, maybe a gecko.

Cool creature ^__^ But I'd be depressed looking as well if I knew that my species is the last mammal around. Connor's comment is indeed funny XD

Even though RickRaptor105 is right that it looks like a pig decendant, it all depends on from how far into the future this beast originates. A rodent might as well be able to evolve a pig-like body and head when giving enough time.

Yeah. I totally agree with you.
For allwe know, this wimpy, little excuse of a mammal could be a descentant of elephants, or sea lions, or they might even be the great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great gre-100 million greats later-at great grand kids of humans like you and me.

An eons old me: Damn kids. What made them tink that evolving into little pig-rats was hip?

Yeah, very true. It's supposed to be so far in the future that it's ancestry is hard to tell.

It seems to be descendant of the pig, but I think rodents would have a higher chance becoming the LAST mammals on earth. But that comment by Connor is pretty funny, too.
