Nea Contest - Strutting Gecko

The Web-footed Gecko of the Namib served as the basis for this modified organism, the Strutting Gecko. As well as being much larger, this gecko has a much more upright stance, which is an augmentation of the ability its ancestor had to stand tall in avoidance of searing hot sand surfaces. It is one of the few large predators of the sand sea's surface, pacing about in an alert manner, in search of various insects and also for various other lizards, such as sand-guppies which sometimes have to bask in the sun on the surface, eggs of ground-nesting birds are also eaten. During dusk and dawn the chirping calls of these geckos can be heard echoing across the desert. Strutting Geckos dig temporary burrow to escape the worst of the day's heat, and can also dig out sand-dwelling creatures which might not get away fast enough.
